Microsite
A microsite generally refers to a small, usually independent website (unlike a sub-domain or directory of another website), that is a supplement to a primary or "parent" website. Often consisting of a single page, but could be any number of pages, a microsite may display a similar look and feel to its parent website, but is considered a separate entity containing unique information.
Why implement a microsite?
